Urijah Faber teammate Chad Mendes (6-0) has agreed to replace the injured Mackens Semerzier against Anthony Morrison (15-8) at WEC 48 later this month. Semerzier was forced to pull out of the first-ever WEC PPV event yesterday due to an undisclosed injury.
MMAWeekly first reported the story this afternoon.
Mendes, a former All-American collegiate wrestler, made his WEC debut last month at WEC 47, dominating Eric Koch and scoring a unanimous decision win. Prior to making his WEC debut, Mendes reeled off five straight wins for California-based Tachi Palace Fights.
WEC 48 takes place April 24 in Sacramento and airs live on pay per view. It features a featherweight championship bout between Jose Aldo and former champion Urijah Faber.
