New Thor and Captain America Movie Concept Art

With two big blockbusters both set for next summer, Marvel’s planning on turning 2011 into a big year. At Comic-Con in San Diego today, Marvel unveiled new concept art posters for the two films, but if you’re not cool enough to be at Comic-Con you can check them out online.

The first movie is Thor, set for release May 6th, 2011. In case you’re not familiar, Thor is a powerful, reckless hero on the distant world of Asgard who accidentally restarts an ancient war and gets sent to Earth as punishment, because nobody in their right mind would want to live on Earth. While he’s stuck here he learns what it really means to be a hero when his enemies on Asgard send armies to destroy Earth, although from this picture it seems like what he learns might be the importance of blue jeans and how much awesomer hammers are than spears. It still looks pretty cool though.

Marvel’s second blockbuster next year will be Captain America: The First Avenger, which comes out July 22nd, 2011. Captain America is another one of those crazy-experiment-goes-oh-so-right superheros, only instead of fighting petty criminals and bizarrely mischievous villains he fights frickin’ Nazis. The concept art looks nice, dark and gritty like a World War II movie should be but still stylish like a comic book movie. Although, we’ve played a lot of World War II video games, and we’re a little upset to only be finding out now that bullets just bounce right off of shields. Seems like the Army should’ve maybe bought our boys some shields.
