What Movie Should I Watch This Weekend?

Movies In Theaters on January 20, 2011

Another week, another selection of new releases from the studios for you to choose from. This week doesn’t look quite as promising as last, what with The Green Hornet finally being released and Vince Vaughn giving us the funny in The Dilemma. With that being said we do have one film promising us Natalie Portman walking around in her delicates for much of the running time, and that’s better than the best Seth Rogen movie ever made. On with this week’s films!

There is no reason to stay home

First up, we have No Strings Attached, an Ashton Kutcher/Natalie Portman flick. Once again proving he sold his soul to Satan, in this film Kutcher is dumped by his girlfriend and on the rebound finds himself in an emotional and commitment free sexual relationship with his best friend, played by Portman. Poor guy, I’m sure we can all relate, right fellas? Next up, The Company Men. An all-star cast, led by Ben Affleck, details the struggles felt when one company downsizes in an economic downturn. Yes, I realize it doesn’t sound hysterical, but this has been getting rave reviews for months now while it plays in limited release. Now that it is finally going wide, give it a shot. Finally, we have The Way Back. The story of a group of men that break out of a Siberian Gulag and trek across thousands of miles of unforgiving terrain, this stars an epic cast (Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Mark Strong) in a true story that marks Peter Weir’s return to directing.

This is a great weekend to go to the theater. With all of these new releases to choose from, and the holdovers still playing, there is no excuse to stay home.
