Atlanta rapper iLoveMakonnen first broke out in 2014 with the single “Tuesday.” The bouncy club hit, which featured a remix verse and co-sign from Drake, became a pop sensation, and put Makonnen on the map. In the wake of this success, however, Makonnen (born Makonnen Sheran) has faced a series of increasingly difficult setbacks. He had a falling out with Drake and OVO Sound last year, and then proceeded to announce that he was gay in January, drawing wildly mixed responses from the hip-hop community (particularly from rap trio Migos).

Makonnen addressed these topics in a new interview with The Fader. Regarding Migos, the rapper responded in good humor, saying “Hell nah, they ain’t got no problem with gay people! They f**kin’ song is Versace! Like, the f**k! N*gga, [Gianni] Versace is the gayest n*gga. They ain’t got issues with him, why they got issues with me?”

Makonnen also discussed his sour relationship with Drake, which reportedly turned violent at an afterparty for the MTV Music Awards. Read the rapper’s account below:

I’m here in the middle of the floor, no security, and they coming and I just step to the side and they see me and stop and the biggest motherf**ker in the game goes, woo woo woo, “Next time I’ma f**k you up! And all security and everybody stop like, “What the f**k.” And the guys with me was like, “What you do?! I don’t have nothing to say. All I did was smile. And I guess they took that as a threat. I was confused, like, “It can’t be little old me. I’m just a goddamned old record from way back when. What the f**k am I doing causing stresses and pains?”

Makonnen went on to confirm that the posse belonged to none other than Drizzy himself, saying “We have a platinum selling record together! The guy! The leader of the crew!” Read the full interview with The Fader right here.
