You’ve probably heard about the rising feud between Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins and Courtney Love. They’ve used the mediums of Facebook, Twitter, radio and whatever else they could. Here’s the gist:
Back in the day (the 90’s grunge days, that is), Corgan and Love had a brief relationship before she married Kurt Cobain. Then earlier this year, Love and Corgan wrote a few songs together but Corgan turned around and (for whatever reason) requested that the material not be used on the new album “Nobody’s Daughter” put out by Love’s band Hole.
He said “It would be a real big problem, because I haven’t given my permission. I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can’t throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that.”
Love then apologized to Corgan via Facebook saying she was sorry for “all the thousand ways I sometimes offend you.” But then on March 26th, Love showed up late to Howard Stern’s show and must’ve said something that set Corgan off because a few hours later, he vented all his feelings through his Twitter account:
You know, if you are gonna recall sexual debauchery, at least try to get the year right.
Thought #1: my face is my face, my heart is my heart, my money is my money. Oh, and my songs are MY songs+If you can’t write your own songs?
Thought #2: if you can’t write your own songs maybe you should just be happy that you fooled someone into doing your work for you…
Thought #6: so have your moment, burn up in the sun that laughs at u as equally as it appears to celebrate u+sleep knowing u have no honor.
All in all, it appears that their relationship is on the rocks again. Be prepared for continued retaliation.
