Sage Moonblood Stallone, 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone, is dead — the victim of an apparent overdose.
Sylvester’s publicist reportedly described him as “devastated and grief-stricken,” saying the Hollywood superstar’s thoughts are with Sage’s mom, Sasha Czack, Sylvester’s first wife.
Sage and Sylvester starred together in Rocky V, with father and son recreating their real-life relationship as Rocky and Robert Balboa.
The tragic news comes just one day after Sylvester appeared at Comic-Con to promote Expendables 2.
A friend says Sage seemed “healthy and upbeat” two weeks ago, and his lawyer tells the L.A. Times that Sage was not troubled:
“He wasn’t depressed. He was thinking about getting married. He just had his whole life ahead of him.”
Sage was previously married to Starlin Wright in May of 2007. The marriage was annulled less than one year later.
In addition to his acting career, Sage was a director, producer, and co-founder of cult film distributor Grindhouse. According to IMDB, he was a friend and colleague of Quentin Tarantino:
…Tarantino used Stallone’s trademark Grindhouse Releasing [us] feature presentation logo before the opening credits of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Grindhouse (2007).
