New York Cop Gives Boots to Homeless Man, Picture Goes Viral

NYPD Officer DePrimo

Larry DePrimo, a NYPD officer, noticed a barefooted homeless man shivering on the streets of New York City. What does he do? He goes to the nearest Sketchers and buys the man a pair of socks and boots. This random act of kindness was captured by tourist Jennifer Foster and her heartwarming photo has since gone viral.

Foster posted the picture to the NYPD Facebook page and told of what she witnessed:

“I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you,” Foster quoted DePrimo as saying to the man.

She wrote: “The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching.”

The officer paid $99 for the boots. DePrimo told reporters earlier today that he also offered to buy the homeless man some food, but he declined the offer.

“You could see the blisters were about the size of my hands and my heart just went out to him,” said Officer DePrimo
