NHL 1st Round Pick Busted for DUI While Wearing Teletubby Costume

It seems like some people are taking this NHL lockout harder than others.

Former first round draft pick and current AHL star, Riley Sheahan, was arrested for drunk driving in Michigan in late October. Cops were treated to a bit of a show when Riley got out of his car wasted and dressed as Tinky Winky, the “gay” Teletubby character.

The scene took place on October 29 when cops noticed Riley was driving his erratically. At the time of his arrest Sheahan had a .3 blood alcohol level. This is over four times the legal limit and qualifies for Michigan’s “Super Drunk” status, which carries a 180-day jail sentence and the possibility of deportation (for Riley that means a ticket back to his home province of Ontario). Sheahan also is facing charges of providing false information as he was carrying the driver’s license of Brendan Smith, a fellow Detroit Red Wings prospect.

Here is the dashboard cam from the cop car that pulled Riley over:

Sheahan was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NHL entry draft by the Detroit Red Wings. Since then he hasn’t really done much as far as the NHL is concerned. Riley has only played in one NHL game and has racked up less-than-stellar stats in the minor leagues.

This isn’t the first time that Riley has had issues with alcohol and cops. While he was a freshman at Notre Dame, Riley was arrested and charged with two counts of resisting arrest and consuming alcohol as a minor.

Here is a video of Riley playing with a hockey puck in his driveway:
