Death Star Petition Gets Over 16,000 Signatures on White House Website

Is America about to cross over to the Dark Side?

Over 16,000 people have signed a petition for America to begin construction of a “Death Star” by 2016. You know, the space station about the size of a small moon in the “Star Wars” films equipped with weapons powerful enough to obliterate entire planets.

The petition is posted to the White House website where citizens are encouraged to voice their opinions.

The petition reads:

Those who sign here petition the United States government to secure funding and resources, and begin construction on a Death Star by 2016.

By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense.

A petition needs at least 25,000 signatures for the government to take it seriously. The Death Star petition needs less than 9,000 more by Dec. 14.

Hey, I think we can do it and if all else fails, maybe we can opt for Lightsabers instead.
