Shots Lead to Standoff with Police in Roseburg, Ore.

UPDATE: At about 6:15 p.m. police reported that the suspect came out of the motel room he enclosed himself in and gave up.

Police in Roseburg, Ore. surrounded the Casa Loma Motel on northeast Stephens St. today after gunshots were reported at about 2:30 p.m. and are currently still at the scene.

Detectives went to the motel to question a man in connection to an investigation when the shots began. A standoff followed between the suspect and the police, forcing authorities to close off a portion of Stephens St., rerouting traffic throughout the city. Police reported that a negotiator is at the scene to reason with the man.

Little else is known about the shooting, except that the street is still closed and those working in the surrounded area are stuck at work on lock down.

No injuries have been reported.
