Two of the three men killed in the shooting have been identified, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. One is a New York man, Richard Lewin, 46, from Huntington, New York.
The other is a native of the area, Raleigh Butler, 26. Though from Sonoma County, he hadn’t lived in the region for some time.
The third man has yet to be identified but he is not believed to be a local.
The three were found shot and killed in a rented cabin by Butler’s brother, who had became concerned when he was unable to reach Raleigh by phone. The cabin was rented under the name of Butler’s aunt, but she was not in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
Police now believe the three were taking part in marijuana deal that went wrong.

Three people have been shot dead in Forestville, California, in Sonoma County, ABC7 reports.
The initial reports coming to us are that three men have been found dead at the scene. There is no information on any suspects right now.
Law enforcement received a call at 3:15 p.m. local time after a man entered a residence at 9707 Ross Station Road and found the bodies of his brother and two other men shot to death in a bedroom, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. The man and his girlfriend became worried when they couldn’t get in contact with his brother for four to six hours.
The sheriff, Dennis O’Leary, has confirmed that the three men were killed at the scene.
One of the other two victims had a family member that was associated with the home. The property contains three homes and a cabin in a mixed oak orchard. The bodies were found in the cabin at the rear of the property.
Forestville is located about 70 miles north of San Francisco. A small town with a population of about 3,700, its unofficial motto is “Forestville: The Good Life.” The town is surrounded by vineyards in California’s wine country.
Employees of the Iron Horse have been told to stay away from the area because of the police activity. The property where the shooting reportedly happened is not directly visible from the road.
