On the biggest weekend for college basketball there’s been another twist in the ongoing Mike Rice Rutgers scandal.
Eric Murdock, the assistant coach who leaked the video of head coach Mike Rice physically and mentally abusing his players, is reportedly being investigated for attempting to extort money from the college, according to The New York Times.
The report says that an FBI agent had met with Tim Pernetti, the college athletics director, who resigned on Friday, over a letter that Eric Murdock’s lawyer reportedly sent to the university asking for $950,000 in December.
Murdock filed a wrongful termination suit against the college this week, claiming he was fired for blowing the whistle on Mike Rice’s treatment of his players.
