A shocking video of inmates drinking beer, using drugs and brandishing a handgun was revealed on the second day of a federal hearing on plans to improve a New Orleans prison, reports the Daily Mail.
The footage, which was filmed at the Orleans Parish Prison four years ago, was shown in court to determine whether a federal consent decree is warranted to reform the jail. Inmates are seen sipping from beers, injecting drugs with one even holding a loaded handgun. The video raises questions about how the contraband even got into the hands of the prisoners with suspicion toward staff members.
An agreement to improve the conditions in the jail was reached in December and would become legally binding if ratified by a judge, however, the city is not thrilled about picking up the resulting costs.
An administrative error saw Ebel's second sentence issued "concurrently" instead of "consecutively."Click here to read more
