1000 Patients In Quebec May Have Been Exposed to HIV

According to reports, as many as 1,000 patients will be tested for HIV and hepatitis due to issues with sterilization at Quebec City-area health centers.

If you’ve been to l’Hotel-Dieu hospital in Levis,Quebec, or Alphonse-Desjardins medical center, you should get check out immediately.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, authorities clarified the issues with sterilization. “Authorities announced today that certain devices used in probes of the digestive system might not have been properly sterilized.”

They did add that the risk of transmission is “quite low.”

All patients have been properly notified, however. The patient’s visits date back to 2005 and 70 percent of the patients are in from the greater Quebec area.

This story is developing, and we’ll have more soon.
