Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez

At just 10 years and 11 months old, child prodigy Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez has achieved more in his short life than most people would given several lifetimes. Setting his sights on Harvard, Ramírez Álvarez considers learning to be of the highest importance. A profile of Ramírez Álvarez appeared recently in the Mexican publication El Sol De Zamora (which for those of us who are linguistically challenged, only appears in Spanish), about his passion for learning and his desire to attend Harvard.

Here are the top 10 facts you need to know about how Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez is smarter than you.

1. His IQ is Einstein Level

Albert Einstein

Most of us struggle through high school (at least a little bit) and fake our way through college, but Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez has had different priorities. Rather than talk about girls having cooties, talk about farts, or whatever 10-year-old boys do in their free time, Ramírez Álvarez had trouble relating to other kids his age, and as a result he was identified as being highly gifted.

So gifted, in fact, that it was determined that he has an IQ of between 152 and 160, which is around Einstein’s level, certainly not something mostly any other 10-year-old could claim.

2. He Learned to Read at 4 Years Old

Child Reading Prodigy

At age 4, most of us are scribbling in color books and whining about missing re-runs of Barney, but Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez was teaching himself to read at a level well beyond what most 4-year-olds are capable of in the literary sphere. While he wasn’t exactly reading the existential philosophy of Kierkegaard, I think we can all agree that anyone who can read at 4 is an impressive intellectual force to be reckoned with.

3. He Finished High School in 3 Months

High School

For most us, high school takes four (or sometimes five) years to complete, but not for Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez. Completing high school in just a short three months, Ramírez Álvarez skipped out on high school drama to move on to more intellectually stimulating and rewarding pastures. Speaking of which…

4. He’s Already Going to College

After he finished high school, Ramírez Álvarez’s parents moved to Mexico City, where he currently attends college. He’s already completed 22 subjects of the 44 that make up the system for his bachelor’s degree, and has taken coursework in such diverse subjects as marketing, engineering, architecture, law, accounting and administration. Not bad for an 8-year-old, especially considering that he only started at the end of April.

5. He Gave a Lecture to His College Class

It’s not often that anyone who’s in their freshman year of college gets the opportunity to successfully lecture their college class if they aren’t a 10-year-old child prodigy. While only a month into college, Ramírez Álvarez gave a lecture to his college class titled (or rather, roughly translated as) “Ethical Implications of Science and Technology in the National Pedagogy.” While we’re sure his lecture was fascinating and awe-inspiring, we’re also equally sure that we’d roughly only comprehend about 50 percent of it.

6. He Won A Prestigious Robotics Contest

Besides for being a fully fledged near college graduate before turning 11, Ramírez Álvarez is also an accomplished robotics engineer and has competed at the collegiate level in robotics competitions. Given Ramírez Álvarez’s aspirations, here’s hoping that he becomes a real life Iron Man and becomes an actual “billionaire playboy philanthropist,” as Robert Downey Jr.’s character is infamously self-described in The Avengers.

7. He Plans On Studying Quantum Physics

Quantum Physics

Taking a cue from his intellectual fore-bearer Albert Einstein, Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez plans on studying quantum physics. When he’s all grown up (which won’t be long), Ramírez Álvarez plans on starting a business to sell his inventions, which, if he lives up to his potential, may have the potential to change the world as we know it.

8. His Body is as Sharpened as His Mind

While most intellectuals aren’t quite at Stephen Hawking levels of incapacitation, they’re not exactly known for their athetlic abilities. That is, if they aren’t Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez. Ramírez Álvarez recently won the 3-mile free run in the College Student Olympics at his school, proving that brain and brawn can actually go hand in hand.

9. He’s Quadrilingual

languages

If Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez’s achievements didn’t seem impressive already, keep in mind that he speaks four (count ’em, four) languages, with fluency in Spanish and English. He also has been teaching himself French and Mandarin Chinese, adding to the fact that he’s a 10-year-old college lecturer, accomplished athlete and overall badass.

10. He Hasn’t Been Accepted Into Harvard… Yet

Despite news reports to the contrary, the Latin Times is reporting that the young child prodigy has not actually applied to Harvard. He’s only expressed a desire to attend for quantum physics, but what Luis Roberto Ramírez Álvarez wants, it seems, he typically achieves.
