Just after 11:15 a.m. a taxi cab jumped a curb trying to avoid a bicycle in Midtown Manhattan, right in front of Rockefeller Center, and struck a 23-year-old British woman. Bystanders immediately ran to her help including TV doctor Dr. Mehmet OZ, who, according to the New York Post, ran from his Midtown office on 51st street to help.

Initial reports from eye witnesses say that the woman may have lost both of her legs beneath the knee. One hot dog car worker reportedly packed one of the severed legs in bags of ice and another told NBC he made a tourniquet for her leg out of his belt before the paramedic arrived. NBC is currently reporting that she is in critical condition.
The cab was reportedly traveling uptown on Sixth Avenue and the woman was crossing at 49th Street.
