Investigators are trying to find the gun Hernandez allegedly used to kill Lloyd. The new documents cite surveillance video, text messages and an interview that authorities did with Shayanna’s sister, Shaneah, who was dating Odin Lloyd at the time of his death. Shaneah suggested that her sister may have knowledge about what happened to the murder weapon. Investigators are now looking into this theory.
According to the Bristol Press, a search warrant for a storage facility revealed that Hernandez instructed Shayanna to remove a lock box or gun safe from his North Attleboro home on June 18, the day after Lloyd’s body was found.
Surveillance footage from the Hernandez house shows her carrying a box out of the house inside of a trash bag and placing it in her sister’s Nissan Sentra, which she then drives away. The report cites the interview with Shaneah, who claimed her sister asked to borrow the car to go to the bank. Shayanna returned 35 minutes later. The video shows her opening the trunk, which no longer contains the bag or box. According to what Carlos Ortiz told police, the box contained two guns, including the murder weapon, as reported by USA Today.
Police searched U.S. Storage in July after finding out about it through Hernandez’s financial records. The storage facility rented the space under Jenkins name. It was paid with by a credit card in Hernandez’s name. Investigators seized a lock and some company records.
