Principal Dawn Hochsprung, 47, was one of the many heroes who sacrificed their lives to attempt to save students at Sandy Hook Elementary School. She confronted the gunman outside the front office on December 14, 2012, becoming one of the first victims. She graduated from nearby Naugatuck High School in 1983 and dedicated her life to education. She had earned master's degree and was working toward a Ph.D. at the time of her death.
