According to media blogger Jim Romenesko, “tipsters” have said that Patch.com’s new owners have taken drastic action with the neighborhood news site by laying of two-thirds of their editorial workforce. The company’s new owners, Hale Global, only took control of Patch on January 15. Hale is known as a “turnaround specialist.” AOL sold controlling interest to them, though America Online is still a “partner” in Patch.
