Russia and the U.S have never agreed on Syria’s conflict.

Now The Associated Press is reporting that Russia and the US will try and push the Syrian government and the opposition to political transition talks, which could spell the end of Assad’s regime in Syria.

According to the BBC, US Secretary of State John Kerry met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss the growing problem in Syria. However, they noted that it would be difficult for Kerry to convince the Russians to change their stance and policy on Syria.

But, according to this tweet from the AP, Kerry seems to have been able to change the Russians’ mind on Syria, and now both Russia and the US will try and help Syria to have a peaceful regime change between the current administration and the rebel groups.

Russia has maintained a longstanding military alliance with Syria, and has adamantly opposed international efforts to sanction the Assad regime.
