NFL 100 Ranking Leaves Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Dumbfounded

You’d think after the multitude of accolades Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has conquered at just 24 years old, it’d be enough to see him take the top spot on the annual NFL 100 ratings. However, the reigning Super Bowl MVP had no such luck. In fact, he didn’t even crack the top 3.

Wondering who MVPat trails? Coming in at three was DT Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams. Russell Wilson, who has a Super Bowl ring on his resume was runner up and who reigns supreme? None other than Baltimore Ravens gunslinger and reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson. Yup, that Lamar Jackson, who the Chiefs have already beaten twice (and counting).

That didn’t seem to sit well with the $500 million man, who fired off an emoji minutes after the top five was announced.

Keep in mind, this was voted by the players. So, perhaps his fellow colleagues didn’t know how to spell his name? Regardless, seems like Mahomes will be out for vengeance when the season kicks off this fall.

NFL Twitter Reacts to Mahomes’ Rating

Like clockwork, NFL Twitter had plenty to say about the rankings, and seems like sentiments were the same all around. Check out the responses below, including some from Mahomes’ teammates.

Looks like Kansas City’s Super Bowl defense campaign will be just as exciting as their title-winning season.

No. 15 Is Laying Down Permanent Roots in Kansas City

There are few things athletes can say they’ve achieved in their professional career, and that includes becoming a part of another team’s ownership group. In case you missed it, on Tuesday it was announce that Mahomes officially had partial stake in the Kansas City Royals.

“I’m honored to become a part owner of the Kansas City Royals,” the Texas native said in a statement provided by the club. “I love this city and the people of this great town. This opportunity allows me to deepen my roots in this community, which is something I’m excited to do.”

John Sherman, Chairman and CEO, and principal owner added: “We are very proud and excited to have Patrick as our partner in the ownership group of this franchise. “Along with the rest of Kansas City, I have watched Patrick compete and become an extraordinary leader, both on and off the football field.”

This makes Mahomes the second-youngest owner in sports history, behind tennis champion’s Serena Williams’ daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, who was announced as minority owner of the newest NWSL expansion club in Los Angeles earlier this month.
