E3 2014 (which is slated to take place from June 10 to the 12th) is what every video gamer is looking forward to for the summer.
Around this time of year, game releases tend to slow down. But the excitement that’s felt from epic company announcements from big publishers and developers, trailers and other huge reveals keeps the video game industry hype at an all-time high. When the days start to wind down before every annual E3 event, plenty of great rumors start to flood the Web. We’ve seen a ton of them and let’s just say E3 2014 could be one of the biggest E3’s in history.
Here’s a rumor roundup of everything revolving around E3 2014!
1. God of War 4 Will Be Showcased During Sony’s Live Press Conference
Sony is most certainly heading to E3 2014 and they will show off their latest slate of upcoming games via a live press conference. DualShockers.com received some pretty interesting inside info from a unnamed source within Sony’s gaming studios.
One of the biggest leaks we spotted on their list of leaks was Sony’s plan to debut a teaser trailer for God of War 4 (check out the leaked pic above to see what else is planned for Sony’s E3 2014 live show):
God of War 4 teaser will be present – will be CG with snippets of in-engine footage. A little early for reveal, but is designed to offset negativity surrounding canceled new IP and generate excitement – also to partially offset CG announce of Gears of War at Microsoft presser. Late 2015. Date won’t be announced.
2. Uncharted for the PS4 Will Also Debut With Some New “In-Engine” Footage
DualShockers.com also got some unofficial leaks regarding another huge upcoming PS4 release – Uncharted 4:
Uncharted PS4 3 Minute Trailer showcasing “In-engine” footage interspersed with gameplay segments. Visuals are supposedly unprecedented and set a benchmark for console graphics. Summer 2015 release date. It looks absolutely stellar. Features tropical setting and differing time periods with Nate/Francis.
3. New Syphon Filter, Gran Turismo and Wipeout Entries Will Be Announced for the PS4
It looks like Sony are set to drop a few more bombshells during its press conference: the PS4 will get new entries in the Syphon Filter, Gran Turismo and Wipeout series:
Kill Strain trademark is related to Syphon Filter reboot for PS4. Sony Bend working on revamping the franchise. Stealth, beautiful visuals and a possible Winter 2014 title. Bend finally getting to join the big boys.
Gran Turismo 6 is coming to PS4 as 1080p 60FPS repackaged title in the vein of Gran Turismo 7: Prologue. Stunning visuals, extra features (social connectivity, new tracks, dlc etc). Coming mid-late 2015.
Wipeout is also making the transition to PS4. Source is unsure of who is developing it, but hints that it could be Sony London, Evolution, or Firesprite.
4. A Spiritual Successor to Demon Souls Will Be Announced; The Last Guardian Will Finally Resurface
Sony’s Japanese Studios may be hard at work on two huge projects that we hope are truly slated for E3 2014 demonstrations – “Project Beast,” a rumored spiritual successor to Demon Souls, and the long delayed The Last Guardian:
Sony Japan Studios debuting two, maybe even three titles. Project Beast – spiritual successor to Demon Souls. The other is The Last Guardian. Retooled for PS4, possible Winter 2014 title. The Other title is shrouded in secrecy.
5. Heavenly Sword 2 Will Get Its 1st Reveal
Ninja Theory’s last major project was Capcom’s DmC: Devil May Cry, an action/adventure title that was released over several platforms. One of the development company’s 1st major releases was the PS3 exclusive, Heavenly Sword, which was affectionately nicknamed “Goddess of War.”
DualShockers.com’s inside Sony source revealed that a sequel to that PS3 exclusive is happening on the PS4:
Ninja Theory working on a PS4 exclusive – possible Heavenly Sword sequel which was shelved a number of years ago. Quite far into development.
