World Music Awards Cancelled on NBC

Last night was the 2014 World Music Awards, featuring performances from stars including Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, and Ricky Martin. The evening at 8:00 p.m. ET, the awards were set to air on NBC, but NBC has pulled the plug until further notice and is showing a Last Comic Standing re-run.

Zap2It writes:

The awards taped Monday night in Monte Carlo, but reportedly there were issues because Mariah Carey showed up late for her album launch, which was scheduled to take place before the awards show, resulting in her showing up late for the awards and, allegedly “creating chaos”. However, the award show did take place, complete with a performance by Mariah, and the source for this story is a British tabloid so it may not be 100 percent accurate.

According to Billboard:

The World Music Awards canceled a planned livestream of its pre-show red carpet due to technical difficulties, so there may be a more mundane explanation for NBC’s decision to pull its telecast of the show.
