Besides being a coach, Jurgen Klinsmann is raising a family with his wife, Debbie Chin.

As the U.S. plays Germany on June 26, let’s learn more about the U.S. coach’s wife.

1. She Met Klinsmann in Italy

They wed in 1995 after meeting in Milan, Italy. He was playing soccer there, she was modeling.

The couple now lives in Huntington Beach, California, with their two children, Jonathan and Laila.

2. She’s Chinese-American

Her parents, Constance and Christopher Chin, moved to California from China.

3. She’s a Model

According to the Epoch Times, she started modeling at 17 and worked in New York, Milan, and Paris for Elite modeling agency.

When she was 18, she won the Look of the Year contest. The video celebrating that feat is above.

4. Their Son Made a Twitter Mistake

Their 17-year-old son, Jonathan, is a goalkeeper who made a U.S. under 18 team camp.

According to USA Today, he’s expected to attend Cal in 2015.

He caused quite a stir when he posted a tweet after his dad announced that Landon Donovan was cut from the World Cup roster.


The younger Klinsmann deleted his tweet, apologized, and then deleted his Twitter account.

Jurgen himself had to apologize, and said, “Obviously as a father you put him in line. And he owes Landon a huge, huge apology. That was highly disrespectful, and I think he got the biggest social lesson he could imagine.

5. She’s the Reason He Moved to the U.S.

Since they decided to have children, Chin wanted to be near her parents in Southern California.
