Wounded Reynolds High gym teacher Todd Rispler likely saved countless lives Tuesday when he made it to the school’s administrative offices to warn others that a shooter was on the loose, cops said.
The 50-year-old Rispler was grazed on the hip by a bullet after a shooter entered the Troutdale Oregon’s school’s gymnasium Wednesday morning and fatally shot 14-year-old student Emilio Hoffman.
Rispler’s warning to officials in the administrative offices triggered a school-wide lockdown and a response from a police SWAT team, cops said. The shooter, who cops have not identified, was found in the bathroom dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound a short time later. It’s not clear what the shooter’s intentions were or what his motive was, but Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson told USA Today.
