Jakell Mitchell, an 18-year-old redshirt freshman at Auburn, was shot and killed at an off campus apartment complex, according to the university.
Police responded to a shots fired call at 12:25 a.m. Central and found Mitchell with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
No suspects have been identified yet.
In 2012, two former Auburn football players were among three shot and killed in the same apartment complex.
