A Stamford, Connecticut, man called 911 on his cat Wednesday morning after the angry animal attacked him and his wife, police say.
The 911 call was released Thursday (listen to it above).
Stamford Police said in a statement that the man called 911 at about 1:30 a.m. because his cat was being aggressive. The cat had attacked him and his wife, chasing them out of their home. They told police they couldn’t get back inside.
The Associated Press said the man, Mohammed Lokman, told officers the nearly 8-pound cat attacked his leg and bit him late Tuesday night. He said the cat was waiting by the door “in an aggressive manner,” according to the AP, leading to a standoff between the cat and the couple.
He told the dispatcher that the cat gave birth not long before it became angry and attacked him.
Lokman and his wife sat in their car for awhile before deciding to call 911, they told police.
After making the call, the man and his wife eventually decided to go back into the house, and went to bed, police said.
Police Sergeant Kelly Donnelly told the Stamford Daily Voice that officers, “advised both parties to stay away from each other for the remainder of the night.”
Lokman told WCBS on Thursday that he, his wife, his cat and the kitten are all fine. He said he’s had the cat for about a year and a half, and had never had a problem before. He said he still not sure what led to the aggressive actions.
