Republican presidential candidate and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker attended Marquette University, but he did not graduate.

In 1986, Walker enrolled at Marquette, which is in Milwaukee, after graduating from high school in Delavan, Wisconsin.

Walker was a student senator and ran for student government president while at Marquette. He left the university in the spring of 1990 and had completed 94 of the 128 credits required to graduate, according to Politifact. He had a GPA of 2.59 and was in good standing when he left, but did not get his degree.

Walker said he left to take a full-time job at the American Red Cross, Time reported.

“The reason I went to college, in large part, was not just to get an education for an education’s sake, but to get a job,” Walker told Time. He said he tried to be a part-time student, but abandoned that plan after the birth of his children.

“I always thought I’d get back, and I may still do,” Walker, now 47, said in November 2013. “Someday, maybe in the next few years, I’ll embark on finishing my degree.”

Marquette does consider Walker to be an alumnus because he earned 24 credits.
