On New Year’s Day, the banks and post offices are all closed, but on New Year’s Eve, businesses run as usual, though they may have limited holiday hours. For example, some Wells Fargo banks are only open until 2:00 p.m. ET/PT as they will close early for the day. It is important to check with your local branches.
According to USPS, many post offices will close at noon for the holidays on Christmas Eve, and all will have holiday hours in place. Local branches may have revised hours. USPS also states that their blue collection boxes with final collection times before 12:00 p.m. ET/PT will not be affected by the early closing on December 31, 2015.
Though the post offices will have special hours, mail should be delivered as usual. FedEx and UPS are closed on New Year’s Day, but are open on New Year’s Eve.
