Table 87 Coal Oven Pizza ‘Soaring’ After ‘Shark Tank’ Deal: Interview With Owner

Table 87 entered the Shark Tank earlier this season with their coal oven pizza that’s sold by the slice and can be found in the freezer section of some of your favorite retailers. Back then, we interviewed owner Thomas Cucco about the Brooklyn-based business. We caught up with him again as his episode re-airs on December 17 to see how the company is faring after making a deal with Lori. Here is what he told us about the pizza he hopes will become a household name…

1. How His Business Has Grown Since the ‘Tank’

Since airing on Shark Tank our business has soared in more ways than one. We are now shipping our pizza nationally. Our online and retail sales have been incredible. We have noticed an impressive rise in the demand from our existing retail accounts. We are also getting contacted regularly from retail stores nationwide to inquire about how they can begin carrying our product.

‘Exponential’ Expansion

Employment has grown 25 percent. We are in the process of building out a 7,000-square-foot facility which will allow us to prep, bake, package and ship all under one roof, enabling us to take on all nationwide retail demand right from our new Brooklyn digs. This will increase our production capabilities exponentially. Our new facility will be fully operational by mid-February 2016.

Lori’s Involvement

Lori has been an excellent addition to the company. Her knowledge of marketing and strategic advertising along with packaging design is proving to be a wonderful asset to Table 87 Frozen.

Partnership With Fresh Direct, Peapod & Other Retailers

We launched this fall on Fresh Direct, with our Coal Oven Margherita slice- our diamond in the ruff- with tremendous success. Since then, Fresh Direct is now carrying our Mushroom and White Truffle oil slice. Our acquisition of new retail store customers has continued to climb. We are now being carried by Peapod and we have landed Kings and Balducci’s in the New York tri-state area. Also, we have been picked up by one of the largest natural foods distributors in the country, UNFI. We are also excited about having our foot in the door with major grocery store chains such as Shaw’s, with over 155 markets in the North East.

Great Shark Tank gifts for the holidays:

Frozen pizza is generally inedible. If this product tastes good, I, who never buys frozen or chain store pizza would be a customer. quality trumps price or convenience.
