LISTEN: Kalamazoo Shooting Spree Emergency Radio Calls

At least seven people were killed and two others injured in a shooting spree in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, on Saturday. The suspected gunman, who has not been named but has been described as a 45-year-old white male from Kalamazoo, is in custody, police say.

The shootings occurred at three locations, starting at an apartment complex at about 6:30 p.m., followed by a car dealership and finally a Cracker Barrel restaurant. The suspect was arrested without incident following a traffic stop at about 12:45 a.m.

The initial dispatches from Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety dispatchers to fire and medical personnel were recorded from a scanner. The first call, to the shooting at the car dealership, was dispatched to first responders at 10:12 p.m. The second call, to the car dealership shooting, was reported at 10:25 p.m.

One of the victims called police from the Cracker Barrel shooting to report it to authorities, according to the scanner audio. Five victims were killed there and two others were wounded. The other two victims, a father and son, were killed at the car dealership. The shooting victim at the apartment complex survived with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
