Charlotte Police have released audio of a 911 call from the shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, along with recordings of officers’ radio traffic at the scene.

Scott, 43, was shot September 20 at an apartment complex by Officer Brentley Vinson, sparking protests that eventually turned violent. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Police say Scott was armed with a handgun and did not listen to commands from officers to drop the gun before he was shot. Video from police dashboard and body cameras and video recorded by Scott’s wife were previously released.

The brief 911 call came from a man at the scene, who was asking for a medic after Scott was shot:

The first recording of police radio dispatch is from Metro police officers at the scene. An officer says at 3:47 p.m. says, “Roll back to this apartment complex behind you, there was a guy who was parked next to us who was rolling a joint and had a gun. … Take your first right, we are back here in this other visitor parking.”

Officers were at the scene in plainclothes, but wearing vests with “police” written on them, to serve a warrant on another person when they say they spotted Scott in his truck.

In the second police radio recording, from University City dispatch at 3:52 p.m., an officer says, “we got shots fired, one suspect down, Legacy Court … All officers are 10-4, we’ve got one suspect down.”
