WATCH: Interview With ‘Modern Family’s’ Rico Rodriguez

Modern Family’s Rico Rodriguez has a gift for memorizing his- and even his castmates’- lines and he credits his love of reading for those skills.

This month, he spread that literary passion as a spokesperson for Pizza Hut: The Literacy Project, a program the corporation developed to support and promote global literacy.

To commemorate International Literacy Day, he visited P.S. 30 in Harlem, New York, to speak to elementary school students about how important reading is to him and how that’s helped him in his acting career.

We caught up with him there to ask about his favorite books (A Separate Peace, Animal Farm and Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and what he hopes for his character, Manny’s future. “Maybe tackle college and see what the college-life Manny is like,” he said.
