Sigfredo Ramos, Edinburg Stabbing: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

On Sunday morning, Sigfredo Ramos killed a 24-year-old Edinburg man by stabbing him to death. Oscar Treviño, the Assistant Police Chief, told RGV Proud, “What we’re learning is that there was a dispute between a couple, male and female, in which the female was attempting to end her relationship with this individual.”

1. He Stabbed a 24-Year-Old Man to Death

The 24-year-old man who died was the son of Ramos’s ex-wife, according to the Valley Morning Star. He suffered from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso in an attempt to protect his mother.

Warrants for Ramos’ arrest were issued yesterday.


2. The Fight Was Between Ramos and His Ex-Wife

A neighbor told the police that a fight broke out between Ramos and his ex-wife, and Ramos reportedly beat and stabbed the woman. When her son intervened, he was killed.

Ramos is 5’7″ and weighs about 165 lb. Yesterday, police were asking for citizens help in locating his whereabouts.


3. He Faces Capital Murder Charges

Ramos is facing capital murder and attempted capital murder charges.

His arraignment will most likely take place Tuesday. His ex-wife is currently in stable condition in the hospital.


4. He’s Expected to See a Judge Later This Week

In an interview with the police, the victim’s neighbor, Ruben Ramirez, told RGV proud, “They look like a nice family. They’re always out there cutting grass and fixing their house and all that.”


5.He Is Guilty of Sexual Assault

Ramos tried to kill his 44-year-old ex-wife at the 3100 block of Celeste Drive. According to Treviño, “The female fell victim to an assault, to torture, to sexual assault, and also to a stabbing.” Police believe that during the dispute, he said that if he couldn’t have her, no one else would.
