WATCH: Trump Hints He May Attack Bill Clinton in Second Debate

In an interview after the presidential debate on Monday night, Donald Trump told CNN that he is happy he held back on attacking Bill Clinton.

When asked if there is anything he wishes he did during the debate, Trump said he was pleased that he did not go after Bill Clinton, implying he wanted to bring up the former president.

“I’m very happy that I was able to hold back on the indiscretions with respect to Bill Clinton,” Trump told Dana Bash on CNN.

Trump implied that he didn’t discuss Bill Clinton “because I have a lot of respect for Chelsea Clinton.” Chelsea Clinton, Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter, is friends with Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump.

Trump went on to say that he didn’t say what he wanted to say about Bill Clinton, but when Dana Bash asked Trump specifically what he wanted to say, he teased that he might bring it up at the next debate.

The Republican candidate actually touched upon this in the debate itself after Hillary Clinton brought up Donald Trump’s comments about women.

He said, “You wanna know the truth? I was going to say something extremely rough to Hillary, to her family, and I said to myself, ‘I can’t do it. I just can’t do it. It’s inappropriate. It’s not nice.'”

Trump may be referring to Bill Clinton’s relationship with Gennifer Flowers, a woman who came forward during the 1992 election to reveal that she had an affair with him. Trump recently teased on Twitter that he was going to invite Flowers to the debate, though the campaign did not end up giving her a ticket.

Rudy Giuliani, an adviser to Donald Trump, later told The New York Times that Trump was going to talk about Monica Lewinsky and the impeachment of Bill Clinton, but he didn’t because Chelsea Clinton was in attendance for the debate.

The second presidential debate will be held on October 9th at Washington University in St. Louis.
