On Friday night, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that veteran stand-up comic, Kevin Meaney, has died at age 60. Meaney’s agent confirmed that the comedian and actor was found dead in his home in Forestburgh, NY. His autopsy is currently pending.

Meaney’s career took off in the 1980s, after filming a 1986 HBO special. One year later, he made his debut performance on The Tonight Show. In 1996, the comedian wrote and performed in a one-man play called Vegas Vows. He continued exploring his musical talents by performing in the Broadway musical, Hairspray, for seven years.

At age 39, Meaney married a woman in Las Vegas who he’d only known for a short period of time. The marriage was quickly annulled. Later on, he married TV exec Mary Ann Halford, and the two have one daughter together. During a radio interview in May 2008, Meaney announced that he was gay, and he and Halford divorced soon after.

After receiving word of his death, many of Meaney’s fans and fellow comedians took to social media to pay tribute to the talented performer.
