The Islamic State Yaqeen Media Foundation has purportedly released an English “Mosul Battle Results” infographic for Wednesday, October 19, 2016. View it here. The infographic, described as “a summary of what the kuffar and murtadeen have tasted and was documented on the outskirts of Mosul,” describes recent attacks and suicide bombings on “Rafidi” forces and the “Murtadeen.”

“Kuffar” is a pejorative, Arabic word for a non-Muslim.

“Rafidi” is a derogatory term for Shia Muslims used by Sunnis. It means “rejectors” because Shia Muslims believe in a different line of successorship for Islam following the death of its founder Muhammad. Rafidi is often used by ISIS to refer to “Iran” as a whole as Iran is majority Shia or for the Shia-backed government of Iraq.

“Murtadeen” is an Islamic term for apostates. The singular form is “murtad.” ISIS uses it to refer to those that don’t align with its extremist, Sunni interpretation of Islam.

Last week, the American coalition, consisting of the Iraqi Army, the Kurdish Peshmerga, Shia militias, Christian militias, and the Turkish Nineveh Guard, descended upon Mosul to free it from the Islamic State. The official operation began on October 17 when it was announced by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

The battle has now entered its fourth day on October 20.

A live stream has been set-up by the Peshmerga for Kurdistan 24 News. Viewers can watch the ongoing operation here.

ISIS has also been trying to take control of the narrative of the war and has allegedly published statistics about the battle for October 19. Read it below.
