Islamic State “caliph” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has recorded a speech for his followers as Iraqi troops enter the last ISIS stronghold city of Mosul. Hear the audio here and read an English transcript of the Arabic.
Two weeks ago, the American coalition, consisting of the Iraqi Army, the Kurdish Peshmerga, Shia militias, Christian militias, and the Turkish Nineveh Guard, descended upon Mosul to free it from the Islamic State. The official operation began on October 17 when it was announced by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
Yesterday, Iraqi troops entered Mosul for the first time in two years. Mosul, Iraqi’s second largest city, fell to ISIS in June 2014. Fox News reports:
Tuesday’s battle opened up with Iraqi artillery, tank and machine gun fire on ISIS positions on the edge of Gogjali neighborhood, with the extremists responding with guided anti-tank missiles and small arms in an attempt to block the advance. Airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition supporting the operation added to the fire hitting the district.
al-Baghdadi’s 32-minute speech was released on ISIS terrorist channels during the coalition advancement. However, it could not be independently verified that it is his voice.
God’s enemies from the Jews, Christians, atheists, Shiites, apostates and all of the world’s infidels have dedicated their media, money, army and munitions to fight Muslims and jihadists in the State of Nineveh after they witnessed it become one of the bases of Islam and one of its minarets under the Caliphate.
Nineveh refers to “Wilayat Ninawa,” ISIS’ name for the occupied Nineveh Governorate of Iraq.
Do not retreat… Holding your ground with honour is a thousand times easier than retreating in shame.
However, despite the rally cry, the numbers are against ISIS. CNN reports that there are about 5,000 ISIS militants in Mosul facing nearly 109,000 troops.
