The Islamic State al-Hayat Media Center has purportedly released an article just in time for the Presidential election on November 8 titled "The Murtad Vote," or "The Apostate Vote." Read it here. The 6-page PDF was released on November 5, three days before Americans decide who the next President of the United States will be: Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton. The article serves as a warning to Muslims participating in democracy, which ISIS repeatedly refers to as "paganism" in the article. The article also repeatedly refers to American "murtad" imams, or Islamic clerics. A murtad
is a person who is born into Islam, or had previously accepted it, but then renounces it to become an apostate. While none of the American imams ISIS described in the article are by definition apostates, they don't follow the extremist Sunni branch the Islamic State does and thus are called murtad by them.
