LIVE VIDEOS: Trump Tower Protests in New York City & Chicago

Protesters descended on Trump Towers in both New York City and Chicago the evening of November 9 to express outrage over the election of Donald Trump as president. “Hey, ho, Donald Trump has got to go,” they chanted.

When some people saw cameras, they gave the finger and said, “F–ck Donald Trump. Donald Trump go away, racist, sexist, anti-gay.” (Warning: There is graphic language in some of the videos.)

Protesters burned American flags at the anti-Trump protest in New York City.

They carried signs mocking the new President-elect.

CBS News said the New York City Trump Tower protest started with a rally, in which people discussed what actions to take in response to Trump’s victory, and then people took to the streets and began shutting down traffic. Watch:

Lady Gaga staged a protest at Trump Tower.

There was also a march occurring in Seattle. There were reports of a multiple shooting near the anti-Trump protest, but Seattle police said the shooting does not appear to be related to the demonstration.

Pictures on social media showed swarms of protesters around Trump Tower in both cities. The protests, which were growing around 8 p.m. EST, underscored the challenges President-Elect Trump will face as he tries to unify a divided nation after the heated rhetoric of the 2016 presidential campaign, which left many non-white Americans feeling alienated. Trump prevailed in the electoral college on Tuesday by winning a trio of states with largely white populations: Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. He ended up with 279 electoral votes. In his victory speech, he pledged to work for all Americans.

But that left some still dissatisfied, as they took to the streets to express the frustration that they couldn’t convert to a Hillary Clinton win at the ballot box. As has been seen with protests over police shootings, people used social media to organize them. Over 3,000 people indicated on Facebook that they planned to attend the New York protest, and more than 8,000 responded that they were going to join the one in Chicago.

One protester in Chicago expressed “hate” for Trump. One woman wrote on Facebook, “Once again, calling every single decent human with the right sense of mind to protest this racist bigot today at Trump tower!”

Some protesters carried signs equating Trump to Hitler.

Others expressed peaceful messages.
