In a new video purportedly released by the Islamic State titled “The Impenetrable Fortress,” ISIS militants in Deir ez-Zor, “Wilayat al-Khayr,” Syria are shown in combat and conducting suicide car bomb attacks.
The video comes from “Wilayat al-Khayr,” Syria, which translates to “The States of Goodness.” According to the Terrorism Research & Analsyis Consortium, “Wilayat al-Khayr is a (Syria-Iraq) border province of the Islamic State, primarily made up of the city Deir Ezzor and its fertile surroundings.” The region fell to ISIS in 2014.
The 20-minute video was released on November 7 on ISIS terrorist channels.
The video is mostly a montage of previously released ISIS video footage, with intermintent speeches by jihadists. The video title refers to Wilayat al-Khayr as an “impenetrable fortress.” Wilayat al-Khayr was created after the ISIS offensive in Syria. ISIS first attacked the Deir ez-Zor area in December 2014.
Later in the video, combat and suicide bombing footage is shown.
