who will win

Today is the Presidential election. Finally, we will find out who will be leading the country for the next four years. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are in the lead in a very tight race. But Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, and Evan McMullin are also making a strong showing. Jill Stein has gotten the support of many of Bernie Sanders’ supporters. Johnson is polling particularly well in New Mexico. And McMullin is polling particularly well in Utah. If a third-party candidate can win one state and neither Trump nor Clinton get the 270 electoral votes needed to win, we could possibly be looking at this election going to the House of Representatives.

There are a lot of unknowns today.

Polls will begin closing at 6 p.m. Eastern in parts of Indiana and Kentucky, with the final polls closing at 1 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday in parts of Alaska. Key times to look out for include 7 p.m. Eastern when polls close in most of Florida; 8 p.m. Eastern, when polls close in most of Texas and other states; 9 p.m. Eastern when polls close in New York and other states; 10 p.m. Eastern when polls close in Iowa, most of Utah, Nevada and Montana; and 11 p.m. Eastern when polls close in California and a few more states.

In the last few elections, the winner was typically announced between 11 p.m. and 11:40 p.m Eastern.
