WATCH: Van Jones Reacts to Potential Trump Victory on CNN

Democratic activist Van Jones was one of the first commentators to react to the presumed victory of Donald Trump on Tuesday evening.

Jones, who frequently clashes with conservative CNN commentator Jeff Lord, started off by congratulating Lord on his candidate shattering all expectations, whether or not Trump ends up being elected president. But Jones went on to express a lot of the fears members of the Democratic party were feeling at the moment, and the clip struck a chord with many Hillary Clinton supporters on social media.

Jones said that there are people across the country tonight afraid of telling their children the result of the election in the morning, not sure how to explain it to them. He also said that he has Muslim friends who have texted him asking if they should leave the country.

Jones went on to call the potential election of Donald Trump a “white-lash.”

“This was a white-lash against a changing country,” he said. “It was a white-lash against a black president, in part. And that’s the part where the pain comes. And Donald Trump has a responsibility tonight to come out and reassure people that he is going to be the president of all the people who he insulted and offended and brushed aside.”

In response, Jeffrey Lord said that he believes Donald Trump will attempt to be a president for all people, something which Van Jones said he truly hopes happens.
