WATCH: Bernie Sanders Tells Colbert Citizens Need to Get Involved After Trump’s Win

Bernie Sanders might have lost his primary fight against Hillary Clinton, then saw Clinton lose to Donald Trump, but he’s not giving in. While on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday night, Sanders said that his supporters and all American citizens need to be more involved in the political process, now more than ever.

In the interview, Colbert asked Sanders if he would want to change the title of his book, Our Revolution. Sanders said the new title should be Now More Than Ever, It’s Our Revolution.

“I spoke all over this country. I was in 46 states in this country. And I have to tell you, Stephen, what I saw was just incredible,” the Vermont Senator said when asked if he was still optimistic about this country. “I saw so many beautiful people – and this is not just rhetoric, this is from my heart – especially young people, black and white and Latino and Asian-American and Native American. Incredibly beautiful people who want to make this country into the country that we know it can become.”

Also during the interview, Sanders explained how the Democrats have to respond to the crushing loss on November 8. He also explored how Trump beat Clinton.

“What he did is, he tapped into a lot of pain and anxiety and angst the American people are feeling, which is very rarely reported on in the media or understood by the punditry,” Sanders said. “The fact is there are millions of people in this country – right now, today – whose life expectancy is lower than their parents’. They are living in despair, they are turning to alcohol, drugs and suicide because they see no future for themselves.”

This was the first time Sanders was on The Late Show since June, when he was still running against Clinton in the Democratic primaries.

Sanders has been on a media tour since the general election, suggesting how the Democrats need to respond and how Trump won. “We are going to hold Mr. Trump accountable,” Sanders said in his CBS This Morning interview on Monday.
