George Michael Top Hits: Best Songs & Videos to Remember Him By

A musical legend, George Michael, has died at the age of 53. His manager told the Hollywood Reporter that he died of heart failure.

Michael “passed away peacefully at home,” his publicist told the BBC.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Michael’s death. Thames Valley Police confirmed an ambulance arrived at his home in Goring, Oxfordshire at 13:42 GMT. While police only said that he died peacefully, Michael faced health scares, including a battle with pneumonia in 2011.

Police later told The Hollywood Reporter that Michael’s death was “unexplained but not suspicious.” Their statement read:

Thames Valley Police were called to a property in Goring-on-Thames shortly before 2pm Christmas Day. Sadly, a 53-year-old man was confirmed deceased at the scene. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. A post mortem will be undertaken in due course. There will be no further updates from Thames Valley Police until the post mortem has taken place.

Here is a video playlist of George Michael‘s top songs to remember the icon by:

1. Careless Whisper

If you lived in the 80’s, it’s 99% likely that you at least heard the song multiple times, if not danced the night away to this and other hits that made George Michael a legend of the 80’s musical era.

Michael’s videos still remain popular on Youtube, and this “Careless Whisper” video has garnered over 157 million views.

2. Last Christmas

Millions likely sang to this top hit during the holiday season, not realizing fate would have it that Michael would die on Christmas day. It will be tough to listen to this song in the same way again. It will always be beautiful, but with a new level of sadness to tragically go with it.

3. One More Try

If you can watch this video without getting chills or tears, you might not be a George Michael fan.

4. Father Figure

Perhaps one of Michael’s sexiest hits is “Father Figure.” Watch the video above.

5. I Want Your Sex

Did I say the last song was Michael’s sexiest? In truth, it’s hard to pinpoint just one song as the “sexiest,” because there were truly that many. “I Want Your Sex” is no exception.

6. Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me

What could be better than just George Michael singing a top hit? George Michael with Elton John singing a top hit. Listen to “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me” above. This song was released in 1992…the legend’s music never seemed to stop, and for that the world rejoiced.

7. Flawless

“Flawless” was a very fitting title for this hit that was released in 2004. All of the artist’s work could be labeled as flawless.

8. Faith

It’s hard to think of 80’s music without “Faith” coming to mind.

9. Amazing

Released in 2004, “Amazing” became a song played in clubs across America and the world. Rest in peace to George Michael, a superstar whose legend will never die.

10. Cowboys and Angels

When your heart’s in someone else’s hands
Monkey see and monkey do
Their wish is your command
You’re not to blame
Everyone’s the same…

11. Outside

Back to nature, just human nature
Getting on back to
I think I’m done with the sofa
I think I’m done with the hall
I think I’m done with the kitchen table, baby
Let’s go outside (let’s go outside)
In the sunshine
I know you want to, but you can’t say yes
Let’s go outside (let’s go outside)
In the moonshine
Take me to the places that I love best…

12. Fast Love

Looking for some affirmation, made my way into the sun
My friends got their ladies, they’re all having babies
But I just want to have some fun…

13. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

No explanation needed. Turn it up and it’s instant energizing happiness!

14. Freedom! ’90

I won’t let you down
I will not give you up
Gotta have some faith in the sound
It’s the one good thing that I’ve got
I won’t let you down
So please don’t give me up
Because I would really, really love to stick around…

15. Fast Love

I won’t bore you with the details, baby
I don’t even wanna waste your time
Let’s just say that maybe
You could help to ease my mind
Baby, I ain’t Mr. Right
But if you’re looking for fast love
If that’s love in your eyes, it’s more than enough
Had some bad love
Some fast love, is all that I’ve got on my mind…

16. Kissing a Fool

Michael’s lyrics exuded passion and a true love for what was the singer’s life. Part of the “Kissing a Fool” lyrics read:

You are far,
When I could have been your star,
You listened to people,
Who scared you to death and from my heart,
Strange that I was wrong enough,
To think you’d love me too.
I guess you were kissing a fool,
You must have been kissing a fool.
