The history of games between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers goes back over five decades now, featuring regular season and playoff contests that entertained football fans thoroughly.

On Sunday another chapter was written in this story, as Green Bay went into Dallas in a divisional playoff game and advanced to face the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game with a 31-28 victory.

As far as regular season contests go, the Packers own a slight 14-13 advantage. In terms of regular season contests in which Dallas was the home team, as it will be on Sunday, the Cowboys hold a narrow 7-5 lead in that series.

Here’s a list of all the regular season contests between the two teams, with the home team in each game listed second.

That’s the regular season, however. Sunday’s game was a postseason affair, and as NFL history has shown time and time again, the regular season doesn’t matter when it’s playoff time.

Sunday was the eighth time that the Cowboys and Green Bay have met up in the postseason. Dallas now has a 5-3 edge in this series, and has now lost two of the five home games played in the series.

Here’s a list of all the postseason contests between the two teams, with the home team in each game listed second.

With postseason and regular season games combined, the Cowboys have the head-to-head lead 18-17, and have won 11 out of 18 games played in Dallas. This win today by the Packers not only brought the overall series close to even, but started to dissipate the advantage that Dallas has enjoyed on its home field as well.
