BOX SCORE

Iconic boxing announcer Michael Buffer introduced the Kentucky starters to the home crowd.

Kentucky forward Derek Willis hit this three at the 13:11 mark of the first half to put the Wildcats up 14-6. That was Willis’ first bucket off the bench.

Almost three minutes later, the Wildcats’ Malik Monk finished this move to give his team a double-digit lead. Monk became the first player to score in double figures in the game with his 12 points. Kansas has kept him off the board until just under four minutes were left in the game, and Monk only had six points in the second half.

Just over two minutes later, Kansas guard Josh Jackson showed that he came to play, going off the dribble to cut into the Kentucky lead. Jackson finished second on the Jayhawks with 20 points on 9-17 shooting from the field. Jackson also nabbed 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

This ball exchange happened with just over two minutes left in the first half.

Jackson split the defense near the end of the first half and swung the momentum his team’s way a bit, helping the Jayhawks go on a 10-3 run to end the half and narrow the score.

With just under a minute left in the first half, LaGerald Vick got his name into the box score with this finish of an alley oop.

Jackson hits this three-point shot, the first conversion from downtown for the Jayhawks in the game, to pull Kansas within three points as the second half began.

Willis hits yet another shot from downtown, making him 4-4 from three-point range on the night at that point. Willis is now 5-6 from downtown on the night and tied for the team lead with 18 points.
