Fifth Harmony is a pop girl group that was formed on the second season of The X Factor. Fifth Harmony finished third but ended up being the real winners in the end by selling millions of songs, touring worldwide and gaining a passionate and dedicated fan base known as “Harmonizers.” Fifth Harmony started out singing cute pop songs with music videos of them in amusement parks but after five years in the music industry, they have developed their sound into something mature sounding with more urban influences. They have collaborated with rappers, sang about women empowerment and more. Fifth Harmony is working on their third album due next year but until then enjoy this list of their top 5 best songs.
1. “Work from Home”
“Work from Home” is Fifth Harmony’s breakout single featuring rapper, Ty Dolla $ign. The song is off of their sophomore album titled 7/27. Before its release, Fifth Harmony’s only major successful single was “Worth It.” However, this all changed in the winter of 2016 when “Work from Home” peaked at number 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100. “Work from Home” is the best performing song Fifth Harmony has had to date and is the highest ranking song by a girl group in ten years.
Perhaps, what caught people’s attention is the midtempo with trap elements. Ty Dolla $ign has the perfect feature during a break down in the beat where the girls perform a dance break during their live performances and music video. “Work from Home” is certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA and has over 1 billion views on YouTube. Despite the success, the meaning of the song is an innuendo for sex and is part of the reason why Camila Cabello decided to leave the group.

2. “Worth It”
“Worth it” is the smash single from Fifth Harmony’s debut album, Reflection. The song features rapper, Kid Ink in an anthem about self-worth. Similar to some other Fifth Harmony songs, being “worth it” is another sexual innuendo. There are plenty of lyrics that give it away, “I don’t like it like it too soft/I like it a little rough/Not too much maybe just enough.” In live shows, Camila Cabello would often change these lyrics to “guaranteed I can back it up/I can call your bluff/hurry up I’m waiting out front” which just a little more appropriate for Fifth Harmony’s young fans.
“Worth it” peaked at number 12 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and sold over 2 million copies. The song is trap inspired with a lot of trumpet use. “Worth it” is often compared to Jason Derulo’s hit “Talk Dirty” due to the very similar use of these trumpets.

3. “Sledgehammer”
“Sledgehammer” is the second single from Fifth Harmony’s debut album, Reflection.The song was co-written by Meghan Trainor who wrote a few of Fifth Harmony’s songs like “Brave, Honest, Beautiful.” “Sledgehammer” can be considered synthpop but instead of a fluffy pop song, the lyrics make it a substantial ode to the one you love making your heart feel like it’s a sledgehammer. The lyrics are catchy but romantic, “If you could take my pulse right now/ It would feel just like a sledgehammer/ If you could feel my heartbeat now/It would hit you like a sledgehammer.”
“Sledgehammer” was the beginning of the successful promise Fifth Harmony would bring. The song peaked at number 40 on Billboard’s Hot 100, making it their first song to rank in the top 40. It would foreshadow the hits that would come that would rank even higher. “Sledgehammer” would also give Fifth Harmony their first Platinum plaque.

4. “Boss”
“Boss” was Fifth Harmony’s first single from their debut album, Reflection. Before the release of this song, Fifth Harmony was a group of cute girls that sang Demi Lovato songs on X-Factor. When the release of “Boss” happened, it set the tone for Fifth Harmony’s sound. Gone were the cute little girls from X-Factor and now here is a group of young women coming into their own singing over synths and trap infusions. “Boss” is about women empowerment, “Boss!/Michelle Obama, making Oprah dollas!” It’s a record that will make anyone feel fierce when listening to it.
The “Boss” music video further supports the feeling of women empowerment. The video features Fifth Harmony strutting down a runway while taking pictures of each other spelling out the word “confident.” Aside from synchronized choreography, the video also has the girls winning an arm wrestling match against a group of guys.

5. “Miss Movin’ On”
“Miss Movin’ On” was released as a single from Fifth Harmony’s EP, Better Together. This was their official first release since finishing in third place on the second season of The X-Factor. This song didn’t perform as well as Fifth Harmony’s other releases but is considered a classic because of its nostalgia. It’s the first official song Fifth Harmony fans have heard from them so it’s always a crowd favorite. “Miss Movin’ On” peaked at number 76 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and is certified gold by the RIAA. Despite not doing big numbers, the song was well received by critics everywhere, Billboard said “Miss Movin’ On” is an “empowering track fulfills the group’s promise of fun pop.”
The music video for “Miss Movin’ On” was directed by Hannah Lux Davis and featured Fifth Harmony having fun at an amusement park while ripping up pictures of their ex-boyfriends. It’s the perfect video to match a fun light hearted song about drying your eyes and moving on after a breakup. The lyrics can be a bit sad, “My lips are saying goodbye/My eyes are finally dry” however, the upbeat tempo crescendoing hook makes you feel empowered.
