WATCH: Lancaster Pursuit Suspect Tackled by CHP Officers

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers tackled and arrested a suspect who led them on a wild pursuit through Lancaster.

CBS Los Angeles, which was one of the television stations broadcasting the chase live, reported that the police were chasing an assault suspect. According to KDVR-TV, the man was “suspected of assault with a deadly weapon.” NBC Bay Area reported that a deputy was injured in the pursuit, but authorities had not provided additional details of that point.

An NBCLA reporter tweeted that it also appeared the unidentified suspect was tasered after his vehicle spun off into the side of the road and he exited it.

As many as five squad cars pursued the man.

CBS Los Angeles reported that the suspect was captured after authorities executed was is called a “PIT” maneuver.

The chase did not occur in a densely populated area. The chase started shortly afteer 11 a.m. on March 7, and it ended around 12:10 p.m., according to NBC Bay Area.
