Nancy James: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

(YouTube)

The elderly female victim slammed into the concrete ground and tossed into a pool in a disturbing video that’s gone viral suffered a series of injuries from the incident.

Nancy James, 68, has been identified as the woman who was walking her two dogs in North Lauderdale, Florida at an apartment complex pool when she was unexpectedly was picked up by a teenager and slammed to the ground. The male, later identified by reports as 16-year old Leon Balfour Jr., then forcibly picked her up by her arms and legs and threw her into the nearby pool while a large crowd looked on.

James was reportedly “terrified” by the incident, but is expected to make a recovery from the injuries she suffered.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. James Asked the Group to Turn Down Their Music

In the video, James enters the pool area to what looks to be a raucous party at the Players Place Apartment Complex in North Lauderdale. With her two dog leashes in hand, she appears to point and ask a few of the partygoers to turn down their loud music.

Suddenly, she is picked up by Balfour, who slams her to the concrete ground. It’s unclear if Balfour slipped and fell while hoisting James up into the air, or if he intended on slamming her to the ground.

But James crashes to the ground with Balfour and she lays motionless for a brief moment. Then, a chant of “throw her in” the pool are heard from the surrounding crowd and Balfour abides.

He gets up, picks up James forcibly — with at least one dog leash still attached to her wrist — and throws her into the pool.

The person who took the original video runs away from the party with the rest of the crowd, who is heard laughing and in shock at what just occurred.

According to an incident report filed by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department, James and a friend, Mitchelle Lozano, typically watch over the complex’s amenities, such as the pool area and tennis courts.

The report said that James had her cell phone and house key fob in her pocket when she was thrown into the pool. She reportedly had called the authorities on a loud noise complaint, but they didn’t arrive by the time she confronted the large group at the pool.

James, who is on the apartment complex’s association board, said that she asked the party to turn down the music because she heard several complaints from other neighbors about the noise level.

“Kids are kids, no matter what,” she said. “They’re going to have parties, just lower the music.”

2. James Suffered a Series of Injuries From the Scuffle

James suffered multiple injuries in the scuffle, but nothing that appears to be life threatening.

She had bruises on her shoulder and leg and initially refused to go to the emergency room at a nearby hospital. However, neighbors told Local 10 News that she ended up doing so and was released Monday morning.

In the incident report, the officer described James as being “very frightened and upset.” She was reportedly drenched with water from her shoulders down to her feet and had a “fresh bruise” on her right leg and another on her left shoulder when examined by medical personnel.

A friend of James’ told NBC 6 that she had recently undergone hip surgery.

James initially opted to not speak with the media after the incident, but ended up doing so to Local 10 News and a couple of other outlets. She said that she was shocked as to what happened, especially with Balfour being so young.

“No one should ever, ever, ever, ever, have to go through that, you know?” James said to Local 10 News. “It just shouldn’t happen. The kid has not evolved yet into what you’re supposed to be as a human being.”

She said she feels a little sore from the injuries she suffered, but is happy knowing that Balfour will likely learn his lesson.

“Black and blue, but you know what, he’s not gonna ever do this to anyone else,” she said to 7News.

3. Balfour Turned Himself Into Authorities on May 8

Balfour, who lives in Margate, surrendered to police May 8 and has reportedly been charged with battery on a person 65 years or older, 7News WSVN reported.

The Miami Herald reported that Balfour was accompanied by his mother and his lawyer while he turned himself in.

He was processed at the Broward County Juvenile Assessment Center before being transported to the Broward Regional Juvenile Facility.

Balfour attends Coral Springs High School, about 10 minutes from where the incident occurred.

4. The Pool Party Had Hundreds of People Attending

Reports say that there were about 200 people at the pool party at the apartment complex, many of whom were teenagers.

It didn’t appear like those in attendance at the party were residents at the complex, rather congregated at to the pool area for an impromptu party.

The hashtag #BlockBoyzPoolParty on Twitter shows that the party may have been organized through social media.

There have been other pool parties planned using the hashtag with posters advertising the event saying that it’s “free” to attend and at a “secret location.”

5. Neighbors & the Internet Was Outraged at the Incident

James didn’t speak to the media following the incident, but neighbors and residents at the complex were outraged at what happened.

“First of all, I can’t even believe that somebody would be allowed to act like that,” Tracy Ann Simmonds told Local 10 News. “These young people are a little bit out of control,

“She’s an elder, you need to show respect for your elders that’s crazy, that’s a horrible, horrible thing that happened to her.”

The video going viral also caused a stir on social media, with many users trying to identify the male suspect in the incident.

Witnesses and neighbors at the complex were in disbelief at what happened at the place they call home.

One resident, Stacey Gaudrau, told 7News that she could have been the one to get assaulted instead of James.

“If it got too late, I probably would have gone over there and tell them to turn it down,” Gaudrau said. “It could have been me. It could have been me. I could have gone over there, and it could have been me.”

Feral apes at it again…what say you john mayor?

JOHN MAYOR

Well… this story has changed significantly since the initial offering!… and it appears this women was doing the right thing! Except…
.
It is now apparent that James had OFFICIAL DUTIES at this Complex!… and was not merely a gal off the street complaining about noise! And in the process of her acting on a call concerning some loud noise, in fact effected a call to Police to aid in the matter! Unfortunately, though, Police arrived too late!… and then, only to find that the woman (and again, having OFFICIAL DUTIES!) was in the midst of a personal crisis of her own!
.
Here’s my resolve!… this planned event WAS NOT– OBVIOUSLY!– properly managed!… and whether James had an OFFICIAL HAND in this particular event, and other like events, is unclear! And for an event like that, “boots on the ground” oversight, I-S E-S-S-E-N-T-I-A-L! Next, with all due respect to James, and her OFFICIAL DUTIES, she should have: a) left her dogs with a friend, or brought them home b) called the Players Place Apartment Complex Management immediately, to bring the matter to their attention and b), put on an IDENTIFIABLE JACKET, or Badge, that would indicate to those attending the event, that she was there on OFFICIAL DUTIES!… and not merely someone off the street, complaining about noise, and with her dogs in tow!
.
These young people at this event– PROBABLY!– didn’t know this woman from ADAM, and had NO KNOWLEDGE of her responsibilities concerning her involvement with the Complex!… and– most likely!– viewed her presence as a JOKE (along with the presence of her dogs!), and an aggressive soul decided to challenge her presence at the event, with a “JOKE” of his own!… and who, should be accountable for his SILLY aggressive behavior!
.
To end… it is my view, that the Players Place Apartment Complex Management will be held to account for a number of commissions and omissions regarding this incident!… the FIRST concern of which, will be to review how their POOLSIDE ACTIVITIES are staged, and how these are OVERSEEN! The other failure to be reviewed, is why James’ coming and going is so POORLY IDENTIFIED, and why LAX PROCEDURES, are the norm!
.
James could have been SERIOUSLY HURT!… in addition to her dogs, and, this SMUCK! The poolside event isn’t a problem– per se!– nor having young people in attendance (of whatever ethnicity!)!… the concern, is following municipal bylaws in its operation, and managing the event properly! And simply put!… if one can have bouncers at club, then one can have bouncers at a poolside event!… and especially, when the event has reached MAXIMUM CAPACITY! And relying on James to wonder in from walking her dogs, in order to effect some “on fly” management of an event that large!… and with no apparent IDENTIFICATION that/ which would indicate who she was and why she was there, I-S J-U-S-T B-E-G-G-I-N-G S-O-M-E S-M-U-C-K T-O M-A-K-E A “C-O-M-E-D-I-C” M-O-V-E!
.
Please!… no emails!

Seriously!? If you read the story, you will find that this was NOT an Authorized Event and none of those in attendance were residents! That’s Criminal Tresspass. Then, this jerk desires to Assault the woman for telling them to turn the music down. She could have Demanded that they leave, since they weren’t legally allowed to hold a party in that location (the poster said “Secret Location” because they are all held on the fly in a place not operated or authorized by the properties)! She didn’t do that, which was actually generous of her!

The fact that you think this is somehow her fault and the Management Company’s fault reveals that you’re a part of the problem, not the solution! Very few are taught Respect, anymore, in all races! This is painfully obvious on a day by day basis!

John “I SHOUT USING ALL-CAPS” Mayor:

> “James had OFFICIAL DUTIES at this Complex!… and was not merely a gal off the street complaining about noise!”

Agreed.

> “this planned event WAS NOT– OBVIOUSLY!– properly managed”

It was anonymously planned by a social-media party-crashing group.

> “James…should have: a) left her dogs with a friend”

Nonsense. They’re her dogs, who probably offer protection and/or elicit affection from others (thus defusing situations: “Aw, look at the nice puppies!”).

> “called the Players Place Apartment Complex Management immediately”

Why? That would immediately escalate things. Easier to first ask the kids to comply with noise ordinances.

> “put on an IDENTIFIABLE JACKET, or Badge, that would indicate to those attending the event”

That shouldn’t be required around civilized, properly-raised “youths.”

> “These young people at this event– PROBABLY!– didn’t know this woman from ADAM”

Or Eve. Still, they knew they weren’t living in the complex…and were crashing a party.

> “viewed her presence as a JOKE (along with the presence of her dogs!)”

So body-slam all dog-walking white “jokesters”?

> “review how their POOLSIDE ACTIVITIES are staged”

I bet the management had no knowledge of the “secret location” party.

>”LAX PROCEDURES, are the norm!”

In too many single-momster black families today, yes.

>”one can have bouncers at a poolside event”

An event secretly planned by a black online entity? How so?

Finally, you need to use more ALL-CAPS words so readers can see just how crazy, foolish, and retarded you are.
